The Throwdown is a full day of competition, featuring three challenging workouts completed with a buddy. The workouts are designed for different levels, making the event accessible to everyone in our community. Together, you’ll push your limits, represent your Wolf Pack, and experience the incredible support of the Gold Pact community.
We asked three members to share why they joined last year’s edition, what made the experience unforgettable, and why you should take on the challenge this year. Read their stories below!
You train hard several times a week. You show up, put in the work, learn new skills, become stronger, improve your fitness, and gradually gain more confidence. Sometimes that progress is obvious; other times, it happens so gradually that you barely notice it yourself.
The Throwdown is your opportunity to bring all that hard work together. It’s a chance to show yourself and everyone cheering you on, what you’re capable of. Maybe you’ll use a recently learned skill in a workout, lift a weight that once felt impossible, or keep going longer than you thought you could.
This isn’t about needing to be the strongest or fastest member in the gym. It’s about setting yourself a goal, creating accountability, and putting your progress to the test in a fun and supportive environment. Having a date to work towards can give your training extra purpose and signing up means committing to the challenge instead of waiting until you feel completely ready.
But why should you join, besides the fact that Loes, Wietse, and Vanessa had a great time last year? Because the Throwdown gives you something regular training cannot fully recreate: the opportunity to put your skills into practice, discover how far you’ve come, and experience what you can achieve when your buddy, Wolf Pack, and the entire Gold Pact community are behind you.
Here’s what three of last year’s participants had to say.
Loes: “It’s for everyone, but most of all, it’s for you”
Last year’s Throwdown was Loes’s first-ever CrossFit event. Before signing up, she wasn’t sure whether she was ready for a competition. Once the day arrived, she quickly discovered how accessible the event really was.
“Because the workouts were adapted to my own level, taking part felt much easier than I expected. Having a buddy by my side also really helped.
The workouts were challenging, I’m not going to lie, but with the support of my buddy and everyone around us, I found a way to keep pushing. The feeling when you finish is amazing!
For me, the competition wasn’t about winning, although my buddy and I definitely pushed ourselves not to finish last! It was about challenging myself and discovering what I could achieve when I truly put my mind to it.
So, if you’re still in doubt: sign up! The Throwdown really is for everyone, but most importantly, it’s something you do for yourself.”
Loes’s experience shows that your first CrossFit competition doesn’t have to feel intimidating. With workouts suited to your level, support from your buddy, and encouragement from the community, everyone can enjoy the experience.
Wietse: “Feel like a CrossFit pro for a day!”
For Wietse, the excitement surrounding the Throwdown made signing up an easy decision. Choosing which Wolf Pack to join was a bit difficult considering there were so many great Wolf Packs!
“After seeing all the posters and feeling the coaches’ excitement, signing up for the Throwdown was an easy decision. In the end, I chose the Wolf Pack that felt the most chill. Once I was matched with my buddy, we clicked straight away. We agreed that having fun was our main goal and getting a good score would simply be a nice bonus!
Why should you join? Because it’s a super-chill competition at your own level, with a buddy cheering you on every step of the way. And, of course, you get to experience what it feels like to be a CrossFit pro for a day!”
The Throwdown may be a competition, but having fun and supporting each other are just as important as the final score. It’s your chance to experience the excitement of competition in an encouraging and welcoming environment.
Vanessa: “We didn’t just show up, we showed up for each other”
For Vanessa, the Throwdown was about much more than the workouts or the leaderboard. It was the energy, teamwork, and connection between everyone taking part that made the day unforgettable.
“Some experiences stay with you long after the final rep and last year’s Throwdown was one of them. It was a day of pushing our limits, playing to our strengths, giving everything we had for our team, and lifting each other up along the way. But the real magic also happened between the workouts: cheering for other teams, celebrating their victories, sharing laughter and exhaustion, and somehow finding the energy for one more rep.
Three workouts. One team. One community. Countless moments to remember.
The bond you build during a day like that doesn’t disappear when the clock stops. It was an unforgettable experience, which is exactly why I’m joining again this year.
And the cherry on top? Having the privilege of leading the incredible Luna Wolves. We didn’t just show up, we showed up for each other. We were the biggest pack, the strongest pack and, without a doubt, the most colourful! If you’re wondering whether to join this year, this is your sign.”
Vanessa’s story perfectly captures the community spirit of the Throwdown. You compete alongside your buddy and Wolf Pack, but you also cheer for everyone who steps onto the competition floor.
Now It’s Your Turn
You’re already putting in the work. Every class you attend, every new skill you practise, and every extra rep you complete is part of your progress. The Throwdown gives you a moment to bring it all together and see what that work has made possible.
Signing up also gives you accountability. It puts a clear goal on the calendar and encourages you to keep showing up. On the day itself, you’ll have the chance to use your recently learned skills, show how much stronger and fitter you’ve become, and perhaps achieve something you didn’t think you were ready for yet.
You don’t have to wait until you feel “good enough.” The workouts are designed for different levels, you’ll have a buddy beside you, and the entire Gold Pact community will be there to support you.
So don’t only watch from the sidelines while your fellow members take on the challenge. Step onto the competition floor, represent your Wolf Pack, and give yourself the chance to discover what you’re capable of.
The Throwdown 2026 takes place on 19 September, and registration closes on 23 August. Sign up through SportBit or via this link and make all those hours of training count.
