Buddy Competition

The Throwdown 2026 is a buddy workout competition where athletes compete in teams of two. To create balanced and enjoyable matchups, all buddy teams are assigned by the organization based on athlete experience, fitness level, and competition division. Teams will compete against others within their division while also earning points for their chosen Wolf Pack. This unique format combines individual performance, teamwork, and community spirit, making the Throwdown 2026 much more than a traditional CrossFit competition.

Divisions

To ensure a fun and fair competition experience, athletes will be placed in one of three divisions based on their current fitness level, skills, and workout experience.

RX

For experienced athletes who can perform advanced movements such as Handstand Push-Ups (HSPU) and Bar Muscle-Ups (BMU) and regularly train RX or Competition workouts.

Examples:
Deadlift: 102 kg (men) / 76 kg (women)

L1

For athletes who have a solid CrossFit foundation and are comfortable with movements such as Pull-Ups and Toes-to-Bar.

Examples:
Deadlift: 74 kg (men) / 52 kg (women)

L2

For athletes who train at an L2 level and enjoy the challenge of competition in a more accessible division.

Examples:
Deadlift: 61 kg (men) / 43 kg (women)
Movements such as Jumping Pull-Ups and Knee Raises

Event Timeline

The Event Timeline provides an overview of what to expect on competition day at the Throwdown 2026. While we already know the key moments of the day, the exact timing of workouts, heats, and breaks will depend on the final number of athletes participating. For this reason, all athletes should keep their schedule free between 08:00 and 18:00 on Saturday 19 September 2026.

Once registration closes, our team will create the heat schedule based on the number of participants and competition divisions. As soon as the schedule is finalized, it will be shared with all athletes so everyone knows when they are expected on the competition floor. Be sure to check your email and the Athlete Information page regularly for the latest updates regarding the Throwdown 2026, CrossFit Gold Pact’s annual buddy workout competition and community fitness event.

Workout Information

At the Throwdown 2026, athletes will take on three unique workouts designed to test different aspects of fitness, teamwork, and strategy. As a buddy workout competition, every workout will challenge teams in a different way, rewarding communication, determination, and the ability to perform under pressure.

To keep the excitement alive, the workouts will remain a secret until competition day. Each workout will be announced and explained during the athlete briefing before it begins, including movement standards, workout flow, and scoring details.

Expect a mix of challenges that will push your strength, endurance, skill, and teamwork. No two workouts will be the same, and each one will contribute to both your team ranking and your Wolf Pack’s score throughout Throwdown 2026.

Want a sneak peek? Keep an eye on our social media channels in the weeks leading up to the event. We’ll be dropping hints and clues about the workouts to help build anticipation for CrossFit Gold Pact’s annual community fitness event.

Athlete Expectations

To ensure a fair, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone at the Throwdown 2026, we ask all athletes to come prepared and ready to compete. As part of CrossFit Gold Pact’s annual buddy workout competition, every athlete plays an important role in creating a positive competition environment.

Before Your Heat

All athletes are expected to attend the workout briefing before each event. During these briefings, the Head Judges will explain the workout format, movement standards, and scoring procedures. Athletes should arrive at the marshalling area on time and complete their warm-up before their scheduled heat begins.

During Your Heat

Athletes must follow all judge instructions and perform movements according to the announced standards. Good sportsmanship, respect for fellow competitors, judges, volunteers, and spectators are essential throughout the competition. By working together and competing fairly, we can ensure that the Throwdown 2026 remains a fun, challenging, and memorable community fitness event for everyone involved.

Scoring System

Individual Workout Scores

At the Throwdown 2026, teams earn points based on their ranking within their own division (RX, L1, or L2). The winning team in each division receives 25 points, with points decreasing for each position below. Rankings are based on workout performance, whether that’s the highest number of reps, the fastest time, or a tie-break score when applicable.

Points from all three workouts are added together to determine the overall team ranking within each division. This ensures fair competition, as teams are only compared against others in the same division.

Wolf Pack Scoring

In addition to the team leaderboard, athletes also contribute points to their Wolf Pack. The points earned by a buddy team count as an individual contribution for both athletes, helping their pack climb the Wolf Pack leaderboard throughout the day.

This means every workout matters, not only for your team’s final ranking, but also for the success of your Wolf Pack. At the end of the Throwdown 2026, the pack with the highest combined score will be crowned the Strongest Pack.
